Private Water Taxi
Most everything we do around Alaska Sea Bright is water oriented since we are on an island peninsula. We have a 24-foot aluminum boat that was built right here in Homer by Pat and a very famous West Coast welder. She will accommodate six people and can get you most anywhere in the bay with a 200 hp outboard. It also has a very nice drop-down stairway through the bow, so beach landings make it very easy to get off and on for most any person. That’s been our main source of transportation during any month of the year traveling the short 3 miles across the open water to our protected bay 20 minutes away. Phillip is our U.S. Coast Guard Licensed captain who is well-versed on many features of the area and the great entertainer.
Philip will stay with you all day if you like, touring the bay and explaining everything about it as you go. Stopping on a secluded beach for lunch and building a fire trying to catch beautiful silver bright King salmon. Some of you may want to walk on a secluded beach or relax by a beach fire. At the same time the boat can troll for king salmon, two pole limitation.
You can spend hours floating around gull Island watching the 18 species of nesting birds by the thousands, or drift by a seal heard of more than 100, or go to the stream where the salmon are spawning at the head of our bay and see hundreds just beneath the surface. Phillip will come and go every day from the boat harbor to help you make your day exactly what you want. He can show you how to dig clams and blue mussels for dinner or take a walk through the woods to
some very unique overlooks high above the water. Or you can take days to yourself and relax and read a book and watch the tide come and go.
The charge for the boat and skipper are 400 per day for six hours, or $250 for a three hour day.
To book a fishing charter boat is usually $1200-$1400 for the boat for six-hour day. You may be able to lessen the cost if you want to fish with other strangers on boar
You do have the option of using a Water taxi, which are mostly booked this time of year and are strictly pick up and drop off. Their rate is usually $80 per person.
Our private water taxi is included in your booking fee to pick you up from the Homer Boat Harbor to transport you to the lodge as well as drop you off at the end of your trip.
